MAPA presents Songs for a New World, Maui’s first live-streamed full-scale musical theatre production. Filmed live in the Historic Iao Theater using a four-camera shoot and sophisticated audio engineering to ensure the highest-quality virtual experience, the show will be broadcast live two nights only on November 6 & 7, 2020.

Sharing stories about the resiliency of the human spirit in the face of upheaval and extraordinary change, the musical conveys a positive message for navigating our troubled times. Written by Jason Robert Brown 25 years ago, the show has an uncanny relevance for today: it explores the struggles our community is facing now in the midst of a pandemic, issues like isolation, the yearning for connection, and the difficulty of making life decisions in the midst of profound uncertainty. The show gives us hope that we will persevere.

Directed by MAPA’s Executive & Artistic Director David C. Johnston with music direction by Vania Jerome, Songs for a New World features four talented musical theatre performers – Dylan Bode, Danielle Delaunay, Leighanna Locke and Calvin Orlando Smith.
