1:00-8:00pm w/ Sunset Ceremony & Potluck
Location: In-Person, Meet at Kalepolepo Beach Park, Kihei (specific directions will be sent after registering)
The Hawaiian word for love is “aloha,” and can be literally translated as “the joyful sharing of life.”
Join Sarah Kawahinekōmakaninani Williams Psy.D. (Nani) for Part 1 of a two part in-person workshop exploring the profound, age-old wisdom, knowledge, and power of aloha. Learn how to “live aloha” every day and create a lei. A lei can be used to show love, friendship, celebration, honor, or greeting. In essence, a lei is a symbol of Aloha. Your lei will be a reminder of your connection to Aloha.
Part 1 of the workshop will include guided meditation, lecture, discussion, lei making, and sunset ceremony with the leis. Details will be emailed after registration. The day will end with a potluck dinner for all participants. Please bring a dish to share.
The knowledge I’m sharing in Living Aloha & Lei Making (Part 1) comes from my kumu, Kahu Ed Kaleolani Spencer, rooted in the lineage wisdom of his kumu, Kahu Nelita Kapaaloha Po’okui Lonokahikini Peleiholani Kukuila’akea Anderson.
This workshop is open to all. Even if you have already participated in Living Aloha, the workshop offers something new each time and is customized to the attendees.
Location: In-Person, Olowalu Area (specific directions will be given after registering)
Prerequisites: Living Aloha & Lei Making Part 1 Workshop
Aloha can also mean Face to Face. There are three components to this translation. We are face to face with nature, face to face with others, and face to face with self. Aloha Mā is self reflected love. Begin an exploration of Aloha Mā and how to use it in your everyday life.
In Part 2 of the workshop, Sarah Kawahinekōmakaninani Williams Psy.D. (Nani) will guide you through meditation, movement, and discussion. This part of the workshop will take place near and in the river. Please be prepared to enter the river.
Participants must have taken Living Aloha & Lei Making Part 1 workshop to attend Part 2.
It is Nani’s honor to share this ike (knowledge) that she received from Ke’oni Hanalei, Hawaiian lineage holder of a Mū/Hawaiian lineage that can be traced back 117 generations and over 2,000 years.
