Dance Maui Premieres

Maui’s first annual dance festival produced by Adaptations Dance Theater (ADT) features eleven Maui dance companies and special guest star, Cristina Lucio,”La Tigresa,” an internationally renowned Flamenco dancer. Dance Maui 2015 will take place in Ke’Opuolani Park Amphitheater in Kahului, from 2 to 5 p.m. on October 17 with gates opening at 1 p.m. Parking is free.

Cristina LucioBesides, La Tigresa and ADT, the Maui-based performers include: Alexander Academy of Performing Arts, Ampersand Dance Company, Darshan Dance Project with guest artist Guru Shri Vishnu Tattva Das, Hālau Kamaluokaleihulu and Kumu Hula Kahulu Maluo, Na Keiki and Na ‘Opio of Hālau Hula Kauluokalā, Maui Academy of Performing Arts, PureMotionZ/S.T.O. Productionz, and Seabury Hall Dance Ensemble.

Deidre Tegarden, a member of ADT’s Event Committee and Dance Maui 2015’s mistress of ceremonies said,”I am honored to be a part of Dance Maui 2015. This is a perfect example of how a group of dedicated, inspiring and talented individuals can come together and take a dream and make it a reality. Dance Maui continues to showcase the amazing talent we have on this island. Maui no ka oi.”

Tickets are $15 with keiki 12 and under $10. They will be available at the gate or online at www.adaptationsdancetheater.com. No alcohol is allowed at this event. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.

The mission of Dance Maui is first to provide the opportunity for the culturally-diverse and talented dance organizations on Maui to come together on one stage to perform, and second to bring in dance masters from around the world to enrich Maui by introducing new artists and varied forms of dance to our community.
