MNKO SIGNATURE EVENTS:
‘Aipono Winemaker’s Dinners
Maui No Ka ‘Oi’s signature dinners are a culinary journey of epic proportions. Hosted at the island’s most prestigious restaurants, ‘Aipono dinners combine the talents of Maui’s star chefs with local wine experts and international winemakers. The dinners provide both an epicurean tour of the subtleties of wine-and-food pairing, and a hands-on experience for Maui’s culinary students. All proceeds benefit the Maui Culinary Academy.
‘Aipono Awards Gala
A benefit for the nationally renowned Maui Culinary Academy, this annual event recognizes the crème de la crème of isle restaurants with awards determined by our readers—the residents and visitors of Maui. Guests are regaled with wines and spirits by Better Brands and Grand Crew, sumptuous pupu prepared and served by Academy students, and a fabulous gourmet dinner hosted by three ‘Aipono-winning restaurants. Ticket sales generate valuable unencumbered funds for the school, as well as scholarship money for deserving students—who enjoy the invaluable experience of working alongside sponsor-restaurant chefs in preparing the gala’s dinner. At this event—everyone’s a winner!
SPONSORED EVENTS:
Supporting Maui’s Culinary Industry:
In addition to the various ‘Aipono events, Maui No Ka Oi is a proud sponsor of the annual Kapalua Wine & Food Festival, a celebration of splendid wines and cuisines. Hosted throughout the lush tropical landscapes of the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, this four-day festival celebrates the most innovative gastronomic trends in the industry.
Supporting the Arts:
As part of our affiliation with the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, Maui No Ka ‘Oi hosts the Center’s annual Maile Reception for major donors. We also host the annual Teachers’ Awards Dinner for primary and secondary educators who have completed professional-development workshops conducted by the MACC and the Department of Education, Maui District, on teaching in, about, and through the arts.
The magazine is also honored to host the Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational, which benefits Islanders, an outdoor artists association. Held in February of each year, the weeklong event brings exceptional artists from all over the country, who gather to celebrate the beauty of Maui’s luscious landscapes on their canvases.
Supporting Island Agriculture:
Maui is among the most geographically remote islands in the world—which makes a sustainable agricultural industry not only desirable, but essential. Maui No Ka ‘Oi is pleased to support that industry as a sponsor of the Maui County Farm Bureau’s Agricultural Fair.
